He started at the Old Fire Copper Distillery (O.F.C.) as an office boy at 16, worked through every department, was named superintendent at 20, and remained at the distillery until his retirement in 1952. Like his mentor E.H. Taylor, he was a traditional bourbon aristocrat wedded to Kentucky straight bourbon production.
