Banhez Jabalí Joven is a 100% jabalí agave mezcal artesanal from the Banhez co-operative in Oaxaca — a wild, hard-to-work agave prized by mezcaleros for its complex, intensely aromatic character. Crafted in the traditional Oaxacan way from 100% maguey.
Banhez is produced by Integradora Comercial de Ejutla, a co-operative of 36+ families in San Miguel Ejutla, Oaxaca, committed to sustainable, fair-trade mezcal made as it has been for nearly two centuries — underground wood-fired pits, donkey-pulled stone tahonas, wooden-tank fermentation, and small-batch copper distillation. Jabalí is notoriously difficult to distill, as its high saponin content causes heavy foaming, making single-species bottlings rare.
