Charles Heidsieck Champagne Sparkling Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay
Description
Charles Heidsieck Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay is a 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru cuvée from Charles Heidsieck — a house that demonstrated its passion for Chardonnay with the very first Blanc de Blancs in its 1949 vintage. Relaunched in 2018, this cuvée blends Grand Cru Chardonnay from multiple terroirs and years to balance the tautness and freshness of young Chardonnay against the silky house “Charles” character.
The bottling combines two of Charles Heidsieck’s strongest traditions: the production of great white wines and the art of blending across multiple terroirs and vintages. In 1851, young Charles Heidsieck founded his own Champagne house in Reims and traversed the United States promoting the brand — earning him the nickname “Champagne Charlie.” There is also evidence that the Maison produced mono-crus from the Côte des Blancs as early as 1906. The house’s defining stylistic pillar in white wines is Grand Cru Chardonnay from Oger in the Côte des Blancs.
