Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin
Description
Ferdinand’s Saar Dry Gin is a German Mosel-Saar region dry gin built on delicately balanced herbs, spices, and fruits — mainly cultivated by the distillery itself, with all botanicals hand-picked. Quince trees stand directly behind the distillery producing richly flavored fruit; lavender comes from fallow vineyards in the Konzer Tälchen valley; lemon-scented thyme is grown in the distillery’s own garden. Alongside juniper, other regional ingredients including sloe, rosehip, angelica, hop blossom, and rose round out the recipe.
Ferdinand’s is distinctive in the German gin scene for its terroir-driven approach — the producer’s use of estate-grown and hand-picked Saar region botanicals (a wine-producing region) parallels the way Mosel and Saar Rieslings express the slate soils of their vineyards. The result is a gin firmly tied to its place of origin.
