Flor Del Desierto Sotol Desierto
Description
Flor del Desierto Sotol Desierto is an artisanal sotol from Gerardo Ruelas Hernandez in Chihuahua, Mexico — distilled from the wild Dasylirion plant in the high-desert terrain that gives the spirit its name. Sotol is the agave-adjacent spirit category with its own protected denomination of origin in northern Mexico (Chihuahua, Sonora, Durango).
The Desierto expression represents the wild, drier desert ecosystem of Chihuahua — where Dasylirion plants mature slowly across the rocky high-desert landscape, producing a more mineral, drier sotol character. Sotol production parallels mezcal: the plant heart is roasted in a shallow pit oven using indigenous wood, fermented, and distilled to capture the terroir of the Northern Mexico landscape. Flor del Desierto translates the soil and culture of Chihuahua directly into the bottle.
