Flor Del Desierto Sotol Sierra
Description
Flor del Desierto Sotol Sierra is an artisanal sotol from Jose “Chito” Fernandez in Chihuahua, Mexico — distilled from the wild Dasylirion plant (not agave) that grows in the high-desert mountains of Northern Mexico. Sotol is a distinct agave-adjacent spirit category with its own protected denomination of origin, made in Chihuahua, Sonora, and Durango.
Sotol has sustained the people of Northern Mexico for centuries — finding its way into food, medicine, religious ceremony, and both fermented and distilled beverages. Production parallels mezcal: the heart of the mature Dasylirion plant is roasted in a shallow pit oven using indigenous wood, producing a characteristic smoky character before fermentation and distillation. Flor del Desierto presents single-producer expressions — Sierra is the Chito Fernandez signature, with each bottle reading the soil and culture of Chihuahua directly.
