Lost Explorer Mezcal Espadin
Description
Lost Explorer Mezcal Espadín is an artisanal Oaxacan mezcal from Lost Explorer — made from Espadín (Agave angustifolia) plants given 8 years to mature rather than the more common 5–7-year harvest cycle. The extended maturation produces a sweeter, more developed agave character.
Espadín is the most commonly sourced agave varietal for mezcal because of its relative speed to maturity (5–8 years) and consistent commercial yield. Lost Explorer’s decision to give their Espadín the full 8 years rather than harvesting at 5 or 6 represents a meaningful commitment to letting the plant fully develop its sugars and structural complexity — producing a richer, sweeter expression than industrial Espadín mezcal.
