Mars Shinshu Komagatake Tsunuki Aging 2020 is a single malt Japanese whisky distilled at Mars Shinshu in the Nagano Alps and aged at the Tsunuki Distillery and warehouse in Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Japan. The dual-location distillation and aging combines the cool Nagano climate at distillation with warmer southern aging conditions at Tsunuki — the Hombo family’s original Kagoshima site before the 1984 relocation to Nagano.
The Tsunuki location is historically significant for the Hombo family’s whisky program. Aging Komagatake-distilled spirit at Tsunuki returns the maturation phase to the family’s southern Japanese roots while drawing on the cool-distillation advantage of the Nagano Alps.
