Meletti Sambuca is an Italian licorice-flavored liqueur from the Meletti family in Ascoli Piceno, Le Marche — produced with an extended aging step that sets it apart from typical Sambuca, with richer body and an underlying floral character on top of the elder-flower base.
Sambuca derives its flavor from the elder-flower bush (known in Latin as sambucus). Since 1870, the Meletti family has been producing artisanal liqueurs in the fertile lands of the Adriatic coastal region of Le Marche. The Meletti Sambuca’s extended aging produces a fuller, more layered expression than the standard licorice-anise liqueur format.
