Ransom Wine Co & Distillery Rye Barley Wheat Whiskey
Description
Ransom Wine Co & Distillery Rye Barley Wheat Whiskey is an Oregon-grown grain whiskey from Tad Seestedt’s Ransom Spirits — rich aromatics of hazelnut shortbread and sugar cookie counterbalance earthy rye spice, with a smooth palate of Amoroso sherry and brown butter building in breadth and viscosity, and a lush, enduring finish of sweet honey notes and polished baking spice.
Ransom Spirits was founded by Tad Seestedt in 1997, initially producing small amounts of grappa, eau de vie, and brandy; the lineup expanded into wine, then in 2007 into gin, whiskey, and vodka, and by 2010 into vermouth. Ransom Farms sits in the Willamette Valley outside Sheridan, Oregon — the 40-acre farm has grown barley since 2008 and has been certified Organic since 2011. Spirits are distilled in a hand-hammered, direct-fired French alembic pot still, with selective cuts made by taste and smell rather than by computer.
