World Whiskey Society 12 Year Bourbon Finished in Black Current Brandy Cask
Description
World Whiskey Society 12 Year Bourbon Finished in Black Currant Brandy Cask is a 12-year-aged Kentucky straight bourbon with a secondary finish in Black Currant Brandy casks — the brandy cask's residual dark berry character layering over the bourbon's natural caramel, vanilla, and peanut brittle foundation, bottled in the Members Reserve Collection's distinctive dragon bottle.
Black Currant Brandy cask finishing is an uncommon choice in bourbon — most producers use wine (sherry, port, Madeira) or whisky casks. The residual Black Currant Brandy character is intensely dark-fruited and tart, closer to cassis than standard red wine, producing the black currant jam and tart currant notes on the nose and the chocolate-covered cherry and caramel palate. 12 years of primary aging provides the full bourbon foundation beneath the finish.
