Ancho Reyes Verde Licor de Chile Poblano is produced in Puebla, Mexico from fresh green poblano chiles — harvested before ripening, then cold-macerated in cane spirit. The result is a light green with amber reflections, medium-bodied liqueur at 40% ABV with fire-roasted poblano character, charred tropical fruit, and a bright, vegetal heat distinct from the dried ancho version.
Where Ancho Reyes Original uses dried and smoked ancho chiles (mature poblanos), Verde uses the same peppers at an earlier stage — fresh, green, and unsmoked. The cold maceration process preserves the fresh, bright heat and vegetal character of the green chile rather than developing the dark, chocolatey depth of the dried version. In cocktails, Verde adds a lighter, brighter chile note that works well with tequila, mezcal, gin, and citrus-forward drinks.
