Firefly Original Sweet Tea Vodka is the world’s first hand-crafted sweet tea-flavored vodka — created in a small still on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, distilled four times, infused with tea grown on a plantation five miles from the distillery, and blended with real Louisiana sugar cane.
Firefly was founded by Jim Irvin and Scott Newitt, who built their first still from a 55-gallon stainless steel tank set over a propane burner. To make their distillery legal, they lobbied to pass a South Carolina law that allowed affordable distillation, sampling, and on-site bottle sales, opening the path for what became the nation’s first sweet tea vodka brand. Production for Firefly distributed outside South Carolina is handled at sister distilleries in Kentucky. Mix with lemonade or water for a true Southern-style sweet tea cocktail.
