Las Perlas Raicilla de Costa
Description
Las Perlas Raicilla de Costa is an artisanal raicilla produced at Hacienda El Divisadero by 5th-generation raicilleros, the Díaz Rubio and Díaz Ramos families. Raicilla is a Jalisco-region agave spirit category outside the formal Denomination of Origin for mezcal but within the historic mezcal lineage, produced in family- and community-owned micro-distilleries called “tabernas.”
The taberna is located near the village of Las Guásimas, about 30 minutes north of El Tuito, the largest town in the Cabo Corrientes municipality of Jalisco — the western coastal raicilla region. “De Costa” (coastal) raicilla differs from “de Sierra” (mountain) raicilla in agave varietal, climate, and producer tradition, producing a distinct coastal raicilla character that is lighter and more floral than mountain raicilla.
