Montanaro Grappa di Barolo Stravecchia
Description
Montanaro Grappa di Barolo Stravecchia is a long-aged grappa from the Montanaro distillery — distilled from Nebbiolo marc (the pomace remaining after Barolo wine production), then aged in Slavonian oak barrels until it develops a smooth straw-yellow color and integrated aromatic character. Bottled at 45% ABV. “Stravecchia” (“very old”) indicates extended barrel aging.
Barolo, made from Nebbiolo, is one of the most prestigious wines of Piedmont — and grappa di Barolo, distilled from the same Nebbiolo pomace, sits at the upper end of the grappa category. The extended Slavonian oak aging in the Stravecchia expression develops the dry, refined, slightly oxidative character that distinguishes long-aged grappa from younger, more spirit-forward bottlings.
