Vicario Quina Liqueur
Description
Vicario Quina Liquéur is produced by Renato Vicario and Janette Wesley using organically grown botanicals from their farms in Tuscany, Italy and South Carolina, USA. A quina liqueur built around cinchona bark — the source of quinine, the bittering agent in tonic water and traditional aperitifs — combined with other herbs and botanicals at 25% ABV.
Cinchona bark gives quina-style liqueurs their characteristic bitter, slightly medicinal character. Vicario’s farm-to-bottle approach — growing and sourcing botanicals from their own organic farms on both sides of the Atlantic — distinguishes this from commercial liqueur producers who source commodity botanicals. The trans-Atlantic farming operation also means seasonal and regional variation in the botanical character.
